JobKeeper Update Extension One
The first extension of JobKeeper started on Monday 28 September 2020. To claim JobKeeper for the September fortnights business declarations are required to be submitted. Businesses are required to submit their decline in turnover calculations by 31 October 2020 to be eligible for JobKeeper extension 1. To remain eligible, all businesses are required to demonstrate they have sustained at least a 30% a decline in turnover for the September 2020 Quarter compared to the September 2019 Quarter. The September 2020 Quarter runs from 1 July 2020 until 30 September 2020. .
As part of the changes in the first extension there will now be two different payment tiers. Employers will be required to nominate the rate they are claiming for all eligible employees – all employees need to be notified of their payment rate within 7 days after notifying the ATO. Employees may be eligible for tier 1 rate if they have worked 80 hours or more in the four weeks prior to either 1 March 2020 OR 1 July 2020. All other employees may be eligible for tier 2 rate.
The new rates of the JobKeeper payment for extension 1 are:
Tier 1: $ 1,200 per fortnight (before tax)
Tier 2: $ 750 per fortnight (before tax)
