Director ID Requirement
From November 2021 all directors of a company, registered Australian body, registered foreign company or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporation will need a director identification number. Any individual planning on becoming a director can apply for a Director ID before being appointed.

How to apply
You can apply for a Director ID from 1 November 2021, no one can apply on your behalf. You can apply online, over the phone or by paper application.
The most efficient way to apply for a Director ID is to apply online. To apply online you are required to:
Set up a myGovID (this is different to your MyGov account) with an identity strength of standard or strong. If you cannot get a myGovID you should apply over the phone or by paper application
Gather your documents, this may include but is not limited to your TFN, your residential address as held by the ATO and information from two additional documents to verify your identity.
